NEW DELHI: Correcting its stance over holding the parliament proceedings, the Indian National Congress said that it has been protesting against the ruling government for its inaction in Vyapam and Lalitgate scams and not against the legal troubles to its leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress party also demanded the BJP government to punish Union Minister VK Singh for making anti-Dalit remarks.
“We have been protesting against the Government for its inaction in various scams, not on National Herald case”, Congress leader Azad said.
However, political analysts feel that it is an U-turn from the Indian National Congress to clear the air in the public from the perception that the INC has been stalling the parliament in support of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for receiving summons from a court in Delhi , over the National Herald case.
Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram too clarified that the protests were not related to the National Herald case.
Speaking on the stance of Congress party in the Parliament, a senior BJP leader said “We can see that the congress leaders have at first tried to gain some personal interests from their high-command by protesting in the parliament, as soon as their president and Vice-President received notices from the court. However, the drama they have played so far had only reversed on them. Public had the clear picture about the personal interests of the Congress party and its stance in the parliament”.
