NEW DELHI: A highly placed source from the Intelligence Bureau(IB) said as many as four terrorists from the terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba have infiltrated into the country from the Jammu and kashmir border with the aim of attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a mass gathering.
Sources said that a joint operation by the IB and Delhi police had arrested at least two of them. The terrorists were reported to have infiltrated into the country on November 20 and were said to be in contact with Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujana for logistics and ground support.
Jammu and Kashmir police were also roped into the counter terrorism operation to arrest the other two terrorists.
As per the FIR registered by the Delhi special cell, the terrorists have infiltrated into the country with two plans – to carry out a mass shooting in a gathering attended by the Prime Minister of India, similar to Paris or 26/11 attacks. If the terrorists failed to do so, they were asked to eliminate a high-value VIP to create security imbalance in the country.
The FIR report added that the terrorists used the term ‘VIP’ while communicating with their commander, based in Pakistan.
Inspector Satish Rana, the first officer to investigate into the case said “I have received a confidential call on December 1st informing the infiltration of terrorists and their plans to attack Delhi Politicians. We have arrested two of them so far and recovered a sum of Rs 47,000 provided to them by their commander to carry out attacks in Delhi”.
The officials investigating the case said that further details cannot be shared with the media as the operation is yet to be completed.
