The United States in Singapore demanded that China must consider putting a halt to all its reclamation activities in the South China Sea. It urged that, what the dragon Nation doing is out of international norms.
United Nations Defence Secretary Ashton Carter, speaking at a high level security conference at Singapore, said that the dragon Nation must stop the illegal activities and come forward to consider a peaceful resolution of the dispute between the claimant countries. He also said that US will continue to enter the disputed region, which it calls the international waters and air space as per the international norms. Carter felt that the actions of the China in the South China sea, were both illegal and against the international norms, the The Times of India reports.
Carter said” China has been fast in reclaiming when compared to other disputed nations like Vietnam and Philippines. It has obtained 2,000 acres in just 18 months which is more than all that, the claimants demand for and also in the history of the issue”.
” I don’t know how long this issue might go and create problems with the disputed nations. At present the severity of the issue is what driving the topic as a headline for media all over the world” Carter added.
It is well known that , China has warned the US surveillance plane, the last time when it flew over the disputed islands. However, Carter reiterated that the United States would fly or sail in the international airspace and waters as per the International norms and that it is the right of every nation.
