Arsenal is left without their number one goalkeeper, Peter Cech and their center-back man, Laurent Koscielny as they wait to fight against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. That was revealed by Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger after they lost 2-1 to Swansea City.
When the game ended, Cech got a muscular problem raising the possibility of him not playing in the Saturday match. Wenger added that he has full trust in David Ospina.
Regarding Koscielny, Wenger said that the player is faced with a calf problem and it is definite he will not be part of the Saturday match.
The two injuries are a major below to Wenger as he struggles to narrow the 6 points gap between him and the Premier League leaders, Leicester. Arsenal is now in third place.
The Swansea City defeat was Arsenal’s third in a row after having lost in other matches to Manchester United and Barcelona. Their fans booed them as they left the Emirates Stadium.
Wayne Routledge cancelled out Joel Campbell’s early opener for Arsenal before Ashley Williams bundled in a 74th-minute winner.
While commenting on the defeat, the coach said that it was unfortunate that they lost because they created numerous opportunities and the only thing was their finishing was unlucky.
He added that they had two shots on target which could have easily translated to two goals. “The results are disappointing and the players are down. We will have respond positively.”
Wenger also stood by his decision to take Danny Welbeck off the pitch in favor of Campbell in the 2nd half. This move got the attention of the Arsenal who got furious. They chanted that “you do not understand what you are doing.”
In a defending tone, the Frenchman said that Campbell after having failed to play for a long time had started to tire. He also said that making such a decision does not imply that Campbell performed poorly. He said that he actually had an interesting match.
Arsene Wenger was confident that they will be able to make it to the top considering that they have enough talent with them in the changing room. He did not see anything that could stop them from getting the results from now till the end of the season.
