Luis Enrique, Barcelona manager, has said that his country is waiting to play its toughest match of the Season as it will face Sociedad on Saturday.
Of the entire past 5 visits that Barcelona has made to Sociedad, it has lost.
The most recent victory at San Sebastian was in 2007 when they were under the leadership of Frank Rijkaard and before Sociedad were relegated to the 2nd for 3 years.
Enrique said that having looked at their precedents; they realize that there is no other club that is difficult for them.
He said that “A streak as long as that merits some reflection, so we can get to work because one thing is certain: it will be a difficult match. I’d say it is the most difficult away match of the season.”
Barcelona is at the top of the table in the La Liga league, 6 points ahead of the second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona plays the Saturday match without the services of Luis Suarez who has been suspended. He is the top scorer and scored the two goals in the 2 – 1 victory against Atletico at Nou Camp. Sandro Ramirez, Jeremy Mathieu and Aleix Vidal are all injured.
Sociedad are at 10th position in the Spanish table and they recently won at Sevilla on Sunday after losing 6 league matches.
“We have beaten Barcelona a lot in the last few years and on Saturday we can beat them again,” said midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
“We are at home and we’re fired up for it. We are always extra motivated when we play against Barca.”
