Having assembled a team with a mixture of young and experienced players for the upcoming ninth edition of the Indian Premier League, Kings IX Punjab management has on Tuesday named South African batsman David Miller as the captain and expressed positive over the team’s performance in 2016 under the leadership of David Miller.
Miller, 26, who has been with the Mohali-based IPL franchise since the fourth edition of the league said that he is honored to be chosen to lead the team. “I am honored to lead the Punjab squad this year in IPL. I sincerely thank the team management, coaches and all the team members for the confidence they have in me”.
“This is an exciting squad which we have assembled for the upcoming IPL season. I am waiting for the opportunity that lies ahead”, Miller said.
Head coach of Kings IX Punjab Sanjay Bangar, too had expressed confidence in David Miller’s performance as a captain. He said that the South African all-rounder has the potential to make a difference in the team. “I have personally observed David grow as a player. He has displayed outstanding batting abilities and a cool temperament in many high-pressure situations. I am confident in his potential to lead the boys this season”.
The left-handed South African has scored 357 runs in 13 matches with an average of 32.45 in IPL, last year.
