Neymar and Luis Suarez scored each one time to help Barcelona beat Las Palmas 2-1 on Saturday. This extended the club’s list of games that they haven’t lost 32 games thus strengthening their Spanish League lead.
The Canary Islands match saw Suarez strike 6 times while Neymar made the visitors advantaged equalizing the goal standing to be 1-1. That is after Las Palmas striker Jose Willian had scored for the home team.
Barcelona widened their lead against second placed Atletico Madrid to nine points.
The giant European Champions are on course to retain the title. They will play against Arsenal in a match that Wenger has widely said that they have to beat the reigning champions.
Suarez commented on their match against Las Palmas. He said that winning titles requires them to pull out games such as the one that they played. He said that even though they had a tough time away from home, they will take with them three points back home.
Neymar raised his number of goals in the competition to 18 while that of Suarez rose to 25 goals. In the last 14 goals, Lionel Messi, Suarez and Neymar have collectively scored 36 goals for Barcelona.
Barcelona started off well after Suarez made a one-touch strike to the upper corner of the opponents. Iniesta on the other hand made an opening move that lifted the player’s spirit.
La Palmas on the other hand did not despair as they put up a spirited fight. Their manager later on said that when you are playing against a team that knows thay are better off than you, you do not play using the same intensity.
The Barcelona trio, Messi, Suarez and Neymar teamed up for a goal that saw them carry home the three points. Suarez dribbled past the defender and passed the ball to Messi who then moved it to Neymar to finish it off.
While speaking after the match, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said that the last 10 minutes of the match was characterized by much effort from La Plamas than them. He said that He would be on his way back home happily.
In other field, Espanyol finished their 8 rounds of no goals by beating Coruna 1-0. The goal was scored by Marco Asensio.
