After the appointment of Anil Kumble as the Indian team coach, probably everyone will be discussing on how good the former Test skipper can involve with the players of the young Indian team. Also, there were debates on how Anil Kumble will look at the ‘aggressive game play’ of Virat Kohli. In response to a similar query, the Indian coach said that he and Virat share similar passion for cricket and went on to say that ‘he loves Virat’s aggression’.
“We share certain similar qualities. I am no different to Virat. I love his aggressive game play, every player must have certain qualities which intensifies his involvement in the game and this is what, makes the on field action interesting for the viewers”, said Kumble.
“However, there are certain limitations you have to follow in such cases. Especially, in the situations where you are representing your country. It is not that i support aggressive style of game play. Every player has his natural instincts, which comes out during the times of pressure and i will be the last one in the list, if you ask me on how i will react on players aggressiveness. It’s part of the game and they must have the freedom in exhibiting their emotions”, he added.
Kumble made the above comments during a press meet in Mumbai, before the team left for the tour of West Indies starting from July 21.
The former skipper said that he had immense faith in the young Indian team and wished that the team would soon regain its top position in all formats of the game. “If you talk of the current series against West Indies, yes we lack experienced players but that does not mean a negative for us. Even West Indies are in a transition state and it is just a matter of time for the players to get acclimatized to the conditions there and start performing”.
India will play a couple of practice matches at St Kitts in West Indies, before the official test series kicks off on June 21st. The Indian side will focus more on trying out the best combinations during the practice sessions.
