HARARE: After losing to Zimbabwe in the first T20 of the three-match T20 series in Zimbabwe, the Indian team has posted a easy win in the second T20 played here in Harare. The Zimbabwean batsmen have once again failed to post a decent score in the series(99/9), which eventually gave India an easy 10-wicket victory with 41-balls remaining.
Having won the first T20 of the series, there were high-expectations on Zimbabwe to give tough competition in the second T20. However, the top-order collapse of the Zimbabwean batting line-up worsened the situation for the hosts which ended up with a team total of 99 for the loss of nine wickets.
The target looked a little too easy for the Indian openers, as the duo of Mandeep Singh and KL Rahul made sure that they finished the chase without losing a wicket. India won by ten wickets, with 41 balls to spare. This is the second best T20 win for India and the first T20 win with 10-wickets margin. The first best was against UAE last year.
KL Rahul made the most out of his second opportunity, after getting out for a golden duck in the first T20 by scoring an unbeaten 47 off 40 deliveries. Mandeep Singh on the other side, has played a destructive innings scoring his maiden fifty off 40 balls, with the help of six four and one six.
The credit must go to the Indian bowlers for setting the stage well for India. Both Jaspreet Bumrah and Barinder Sran, have made sure that the Zimbabwean batting-line up never gained back to their strengths. Barinder Sran returned the second best figures for a debutant in T20Is with 4 for 10 while, Bumrah became the highest wicket-taker of the year (24) after scalping three wickets in the second t20.
The third and the final t20 will be played at the same venue i.e., Harare Sports Club on June 22.
