NAGPUR: In spite of winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the conditions of the VCA ground at Nagpur seems to be unfavorable for India. South African bowlers were successful in removing the Indian top order batsman early in their first innings, even in the absence of Dale Steyn.
India are currently batting at 149, loosing six wickets in just 55 overs. Wicket Keeper Wriddhiman Saha(9) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja(21) are at the crease.
Earlier, there were reports of a spin friendly pitch at Nagpur for the third test between India and South Africa. However, the pitch as of now does not look to assist the spinners more than the pacers as Morne Morkel has managed to remove the wickets of Indian in-form batsmen Rahane, Vijay and skipper Virat Kohli.
On the other hand, spinners Harmer and Elgar have shared another three wickets between them.
Nagpur pitch, which is known for its reverse swing capabilities has appeared much earlier this time with the likes of Morkel and Rabada successfully producing the reverse swing to dismiss the Indian batsmen.
Whatsoever, we cannot estimate the winning team at this point of time as it is too early to do so when compared to the last two tests, where South Africans were bowled out for much lower scores despite of sending the Indian batting lineup early to the pavilion.
The pitch is expected to assist the spinners as the match progresses, making it even hard for batsmen to bat.
