Marcus Stoinis, the only bright-spot for the IPL franchise Kings IX Punjab will become the third Australian to leave the the tournament midway. The team management said that Stoinis will fly back home ‘due to unavoidable personal circumstances’.
The development comes on the same day, when another Australian Glenn Maxwell too left the side due to a side strain. Prior to him, Shaun Marsh was ruled out of the cash-rich tournament as he suffered a back strain during a match against Kolkata Knight riders on April 19.
Marcus Stoinis has been the lone star for Kings IX Punjab franchise to put some decent and consistent performance on a regular basis. The right handed batsman has scored a total of 146 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 135.18. In addition, the all-rounder has scalped eight wickets in seven fixtures. The best performance of the Australian was against the Delhi Daredivils in Mohali, when he scored 54 runs and took three key wickets. It was followed by his four wicket-haul against the Mumbai Indians in Visakhapatnam, which was instrumental in winning the game.
Though the 26-year old all rounder left the tournament midway, it will not have any additional impact on Kings IX Punjab as the IPL franchise stands last in the points table almost confirming its elimination from the tournament.
