MUMBAI: The Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) has on Monday, announced a 16-member squad including six uncapped players for the limited overs series against Zimbabwe starting next month. MS Dhoni will lead the young squad, in the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli, Rahane, Dhawan and Rohith Sharma.
Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket keeper batsman KL Rahul, Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Delhi Daredevils batsman Karun Nair are among the six uncapped players drafted for the limited overs tour of Zimbabwe for their consistent performances in the ongoing Indian Premier league.
KL Rahul has been consistent in his batting playing for his team RCB. He had scored a total of 386 runs in 10 innings. While, Karun Nair scored a total of 357 runs in 12 outings for his Delhi Daredevils team. On the other hand, Chahal, finished the league stage as the leading wicket taker with 19 wickets from the 11 matches he played in.
It seems like that the BCCI has done a good job by resting its top players from the limited overs format in order to prepare them for the upcoming test series against the West Indies. Virat Kohli will lead the 17-member test squad for the tour of West Indies, the schedule of which is yet to be announced.
