Former India skipper and the present Team India Director Ravi Shastri, is most likely to be the Head coach for the men’s cricket team after Duncan Fletcher. Ravi Shastri will be signing the contract with BCCI for Rs.7 crores a year, if the reports of the Hindustan times are to be believed.
If the deal gets confirmed by the BCCI, Shastri will become the highest paid cricket coach in the world. At present shastri has been paid Rs.6 crores a year for his contract as the Team India director since the start of the England series last year. The former skipper has been paid Rs.4 crores a year by the BCCI for his contract as a Commentator. If the details reported by the Hindustan times are accurate, Shastri will be paid more than the previous India coach Duncan Fletcher(Rs.4.2 crores).
The announcement of the next Team India coach will be made shortly before the Team India’s tour of Zimbabwe.
Shastri has earlier said to the media that he would be discussions with the BCCI after the Bangladesh tour over certain things. It indicates that the discussions may be of the compensation package.
Ravi Shastri, who has played 80 tests and 180 ODIs for India has a good reputation for his individual discipline. He has received the attention of the senior players and the BCCI officials since his appointment as the Team India Director. Moreover, Ravi Shastri has the likes of the Indian captain Virat Kohli and other players which makes him the most adorable to the post of Team India coach, the NDTV reports.
