MELBOURNE: Cricket Australia’s website has officially declared the results of the polls, it has conducted over the “Best Test Player of the 21st Century”. The top ten list was headed by Sachin Tendulkar, securing 23 percent of the votes polled. Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar was the only Indian player to feature in the list of top ten.
Sachin Tendulkar has backed the highest number of votes in the poll conducted by the cricket.com.au and emerged as the top Test player of the 21st century. The website reported that more than 16,000 people have cast their vote in the poll.
Srilankan Batsman Kumara Sangakkara received the second highest number of votes, followed by Adam Gilchrist of Australia in the third position.
The Top Ten list comprised of four Australian players, three South African Players and two Srilankan players besides Sachin Tendulkar. Australian legend Ricky Ponting and South African Kallis were separated by a few votes with both winning nearly 11% of votes.
Sachin Tendulkar, who has the record of scoring a hundred centuries, has retired in 2013, after playing his last test against the West Indies. He is the leading run scorer in the Test and ODI formats of the game.
