Dhaka: After undergoing a practice session in the Bangladesh’s capital, Middle order Batsman Suresh Raina in his interview to the Media personnel said that the Indian Management is not considering Bangladesh a weak team anymore. He also added that Bangladesh have emerged as a powerful team in the recent times outclassing other teams, especially in the ODIs.
There had been much discussion over the stands of the BCCI, in its recent selection of the squad for the Bangladesh series. The Indian Cricket Board has sent its top players, which is considered as India’s full team to the Bangladesh series unlike, in 2014 where eight of the top Indian players were rested. Commenting on this, Raina said “It is very clear. Last year, the first class players were doing well in the domestic matches and hence they were made to play in the Bangladesh series.” He added, ” This year you have seen that the full team has played in the Test match a few days ago and the same has been done in the ODI series too.”
Suresh Raina said that the Bangladesh team has proved themselves to be a threat to the opposition, if taken easily. He opined that, there will be a good competition between the two sides in the upcoming ODI matches, which are all scheduled to be played in Dhaka. Suresh Raina praised the bowling of the Bangladesh player Ruskin in the recently concluded World Cup. He said that the bowler has a good pace in his bowling.
Earlier in the day, the top seven players of the Indian team were found undergoing a practice session in the Dhaka stadium. Raina said, that there will be another practice session tomorrow, before the first ODI begins. The three ODIs were scheduled with a reserve day as there was a threat of rain for every match in Dhaka. Speaking on it Suresh Raina said, ” it is good that we have a reserve day for every match. This could help us to yield a result out of every match. As of now we are focusing on enjoying our game, as the rains are not in our hands”, the ESPN reports.
India plays Bangladesh in its first one day-match tomorrow i.e., on June 18th. The other two one-day matches of the scheduled three ODI series against Bangladesh are on June 21st and June 24th respectively.
