Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo are all set to feature in the Pakistan Premier League debut, to be held at Doha starting in February 2016. Pakistan cricket board is said to be looking to rope in at least 25 foreign players into the tournament.
The sources near to Chris Gayle, confirmed the T20 Batting star signing up for the Pakistan premier League. Sunil Narine and Darren Sammy are other West Indians who are among the players to feature in the Pakistan Premier League.
“Top T20 players like Gayle will definitely boost our tournament. They are stars who attract fan base and provide tournament credibility. In addition to that, they will be a great inspiration to the younger players they play with”, Najam Sethi, head of PCB Executive committee said.
The first season of the League will feature five provincial capital based franchisees. The tournament will run from February 4th to 24th featuring 24 matches with a price money of $1 million.
The Pakistan Cricket League matches will be paid at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium, with a capacity of about 13,000. Earlier, the UAE cricket board has declined to host the Pakistan Cricket League as there were a clash of dates between the Masters cricket League and PPL. UAE is set to host the Masters Cricket League.
Former Pakistan Captains Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja will act as brand ambassadors for the first season of the Pakistan Premiere League, the ESPN reported.
The Logo of the league will be released in a function on September 20. However, the Pakistan cricket board said finding stakeholders to bid for the franchisees is still a work in progress.
