In an attempt to stay “aloof” after their lose to India in the World T20 match that took place at Eden Gardens, the Pakistan captain said that the critics do not bother him and that he is aware of what is good for his team.
Many people, all the way from newspapers, television, social media and Pakistani fan, have been critical of the Pakistan team and Afridi.
Afridi spoke to media persons ahead of an important match against New Zealand: “I think even when the tournament had not started, media were saying things. But in reality, neither do I check Twitter, Facebook nor do I check what media is reporting. I have kept myself to one side (aloof). I know what will be their response (back home).”
He added that whatever is happening in Pakistan can continue happening as long as he and his team know what they are supposed to do. That is what matters most to him. The rest can later on take care of itself.
” For us, main thing is performance and we will have to show it.”
He also said that he was proud and thankful that he had managed to play for Pakistan cricket team for a long time despite many joining and leaving.
