India Telecoms giant Airtel has on Thursday officially announced the unveiling of the Airtel 4G-high speed mobile data services across 296 towns in India. The commercial announcement of the 4G services comes after three years of Airtel’s test trials, starting in Kolkata in 2012.
Airtel’s new 4G services can be utilized through 4G-enabled smartphones, Wifi-routers and internet dongles. Airtel maintained the same data plans for both 3G and 4G customers, which meant that 4G services can be accessed at 3G prices.
Airtel has also brought up a new promotional offer to it’s customers. According to it, customers swapping their 3G sim-cards with the new 4G sims can get benefits such as unlimited access to the Airtel’s Music service for six months and also a certain number of free movies on it’s new online movie platform.
Coming to the data pack prices, the 4G data packs start at Rs.25. Airtel has also introduced a new range of ‘infinity plans’ staring with 999 which offers unlimited voice calling along with data benefits and access to Airtel’s music store.
The company has also started a new automated platform, Flexpage. This service allows the user to review real time date usage and buy data packs on the go, the Times of India reports.
“we have built India’s first commercial 4G-network based on the feedback received from the beta launches. The new service will make high-speed broadband a reality. The national roll-out of the service is a small step towards our journey to be the most innovative and customer focused brand”, Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO, Bharti Airtel (India & South Asia) said, in a statement.
