Our brain is wired to fall asleep in a natural fashion as the sunsets and gets dark. We have already disrupted our bio-clock with our modern illuminations. To make things worse, we carry our iPhones, iPads or other handheld gadgets to bed and view these gadgets’ bright display for sustained periods. This disrupts our biological clock leading to a number of symptoms pertaining to sleep disorders. Apple IOS 9.3 boasts of coming up with a special feature under the name Night Shift that will help in protecting us from the disruption of circadian rhythms.
Researches have it clearly that sustained exposure to light, especially in the blue spectrum, can confuse the circadian rhythms, which is a biological response to the 24-hour day/light and night/darkness cycle. The circadian rhythm tells the brain when to eat and when to go to sleep. It has far-reaching effects on the normal functioning of the human body such as brain wave patterns, gastronomic responses, and even hormonal secretion pattern.
The latest operating system from Apple iOS 9.3 is rolled out with a new feature, Night Shift, which is programmed to change the color spectrum of the display to a more warmer band of light, as it gets dark. The device makes use of the clock and the geographical location of the device to establish the sunset timings. You need not have to manually adjust the display brightness any longer. The display again automatically reverts to the original settings in the morning.
There are already many health related concerns in using the modern gadgets including laptop, desktop, mobile phone, tablets and other handheld devices. Each day the number of hours that we spend with these devices is only increasing progressively. Health concerns are on the rise but at the same time, we cannot do away with these devices today. In such a scenario, Apple’s iOS 9.3 and its Night Shift feature come as a welcome move. Soon all the other brands are also likely to follow suit but it will not change the fact that Apple is the first brand to introduce this feature.
If you are someone that is addicted to your iPhone or your iPad, then you can now start using them safely without getting our sleeping pattern affected. You will be able to happily check your emails, use Facebook and other social media before going to bed and still have a sound sleep. The Night Shift feature is one of the much hyped about feature of the latest operating system from Apple and that too with a reason. The latest OS comes with a number of other interesting features that make it one of the most desirable operating systems.
