The Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that the State owned Telecom Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited(BSNL), would soon provide National roaming services free of cost from June 15.
In a bid to take BSNL and MTNL public sector companies into profits, the government has come up with the present plan. Mr. Ravi Shankar prasad also said, that the government would also provide wi-fi hotspots at major tourists spots in India under BSNL. The plan would be implemented in two years. 2,500 wi-fi hotspots are said to be started in this financial year at various tourist places, The Times of India reports.
BSNL which has been trading in losses since 5 years, has recorded a gain of 2.1% compared to its previous revenue, the Minister announced. The minister also said that full mobile portability services will be rendered through BSNL from the month of July. The key announcements came as a part of a program, addressing the achievements of the government on the completion of BJP’s one year term in office.
