Known for its iconic ringtones, Nokia was once upon a time the Kingpin of the mobile industry. Things happened and poop! The manufacturer was nowhere to be seen. It tried to make a comeback through the Windows OS and that wasn’t any success either. One fact blamed for the failure is the decision to cling on Microsoft as the savior whereas it vividly understood that the Bill Gates-owned firm has restrictions that keep pushing developers away.
But this year seems different. Nokia has decided to make yet another comeback, this time round via the Android platform. Just a few weeks ago, it launched three Android powered smartphones in addition to a modern version of the legendary Nokia 3310. The Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 were unveiled at the Mobile World Congress but none of these is the company’s flagship device. Its premium smartphone is the yet to be released Nokia 9 and already parallels are being drawn between it and the iPhone 8 which also hasn’t been released.
The flagship Nokia 9 has been hailed after several leaks suggested that it will feature an Iris Scanner, a QuadHD OLED display and Carl Zeiss cameras, reports Nokia Power User.
New Boy in town – the Nokia 9
By just looking at these few features, it already tells you something new – Apple and Samsung need to up their game or will soon face the wrath of failing to adapt to Nokia.
For years now the competition has been between Apple’s iPhone series and Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones. However, that standing was shaken after Google also tried its luck in the smartphone with its own handsets. And here comes Nokia!
The release date is reportedly scheduled to either be the end of July or early August but one thing unquestioned is that it will be before the third quarter comes to an end.
Besides the already highlighted features, Nokia 9 will come packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Infact, this is said to be the reason why the device is experiencing some delays in coming to the market. As at the moment, only Galaxy S8 runs on Qualcomm’s latest chips. If Nokia manages to bring this feature onboard, rest assured that the firm will rival iPhone in a way that hasn’t been experienced before.
Out-of-this-world Camera
The smartphone is expected to satisfy the needs of the photo lovers with a whooping 22MP dual lens Carl Zeiss rear camera paired with a 12MP front facing camera for selfies. Just like the newly launched Galaxy S8, Nokia 9 will also have an Iris Scanner, dust and water resistance capability in addition to a finger print sensor. It will also have a 3,800 mAh battery with Quick Charging 4.0 support, 64/128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. These are the kinds of features that undoubtedly will rival Apple’s next flagship device – the iPhone 8.
