Panasonic has recently released a flexible battery that can be used on a wide range of consumer devices. This battery may be closer to the market than ever before.
Panasonic showed off its new bendable battery in Japan at the Ceatac Technology.
This battery is for now compatible with wearable and card type devices such as wrist watches and fitness bands.
During the launch of the Panasonic flexible battery, Ben Wood, the CCS Insight analyst claimed that this new technology from Panasonic could be just but a processor to “truly disruptive devices, though it is likely to take some period of time before they success of the future.
This Panasonic Unit, which has been set to be shipped by the end of the month, is merely 0.0022 inches in thickness. It can be bend up to 25 degrees and Panasonic claimed that the battery has the ability to continue functioning even after being bent over and over again.
Advantages of the Panasonic bendable battery
According to Ubergizmo, the very immediate advantage of this kind of battery is that for those individuals who like carrying with them card like devices in their bags or pockets have no more worry about the battery being damaged if they accidentally sit on the device and bend them.
In the future, these batteries can be designed to generate the most buzz: with major electronics companies such as Samsung, Panasonic, LG among others, putting their efforts in coming up and developing other bendable devices such as smartphones, iPods among other electronics.
These batteries are believed to provide a good scope for disruptive new curved design.
