Are things working out for Android’s major vendor? Samsung’s earnings have been deteriorating over the past couple of years but the company is hopeful that its first quarter 2016 earnings will be a boost, thanks to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
Samsung is projecting that it will have an operating profit of $5.7 billion for Q1 2016. This is a 10% increase compared to its Q1 2015 earnings. The company has also projected solid revenues of $42.3bn which represent an increase in the $40.7bn revenues for the same quarter last year.
How much of this is as a result of Galaxy S7? For sure we can’t know until the official report about the earnings is released by Samsung. But earlier indications are that S7 is the biggest hit for the company. In recent times, Samsung reported that it shipped 10 million Galaxy S7 units in March.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have both been widely acclaimed by critics and established very high bars for smart phones that will be released this year. In addition to the usual praise for Samsung’s beautiful displays and camera technology, the new phones have also been lauded for bringing back support for microSD cards and for offering improved battery life.
